The Fort Greely Restoration Program promotes public involvement through community meetings and ongoing Restoration Advisory Board meetings These events brief the public on the progress of cleanup activities and work being performed and the plans for the future.
The Fort Greely Restoration Advisory Board usually meets semi-annually – in the Fall and Spring – to discuss the previous summer’s work progress and plans for the upcoming field season, respectively. Learn about the Fort Greely Restoration Advisory Board.
Restoration Advisory Board
The Fort Greely Installation Restoration Program also responds to specific Community Concerns about health and the environment. For example, a 2005 Miscarriage Rate Assessment examined relationships between individuals and miscarriage incidence for Fort Greely residents.
Specific to the cleanup activities on Fort Greely, the Restoration Advisory Board regularly brings local stakeholder groups together to discuss the investigation and cleanup activities at Fort Greely (and other properties where DoD has ongoing environmental liabilities). Army RABs are authorized, established and led by Garrison Commander or their designee and co-led by a community chairperson. Army RABs serve as a forum for the discussion and exchange of restoration program information between the Army, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC), local and tribal representatives, other regulatory agencies, and members of the affected community. The current RAB Members are listed below.
